Privacy policy

Last updated October 31, 2026

The short version
  • We collect only what the app needs: your email, your districts, your follows and stars, optional alerts, optional feedback, and anonymous usage stats.
  • We use your voter registration address once to find your districts. We save your county, town, and district numbers, not your street address.
  • No ads, no ad trackers, no Android advertising ID. We never sell or rent your data.
  • You can delete your account and its data in the app at any time.

Who we are

TotalGovt is a brand of Inferno45 ("we", "us"). TotalGovt is an independent, non-partisan government information app. This policy covers the TotalGovt Android app (app ID com.inferno45.totalgovt) and this website, totalgovt.com. TotalGovt is not a government app and is not made on behalf of any government. Contact: info@inferno45.com.

What we collect

  • Email address. You sign up with an email so you can log in. Passwords are handled by our login provider, Supabase, and we never see them.
  • Your districts. When you enter your voter registration address, the app sends it once to the free U.S. Census Bureau geocoder to find your districts. We save only your county, town, and district numbers to your account. We do not store your street address on our servers. Your street line stays on your phone so My voting info can find your precinct, and it is removed when you delete your account.
  • Address suggestions. While you type an address, after 4 characters the app sends only the partial text you typed to Photon (photon.komoot.io), a free OpenStreetMap search, to suggest addresses. No location, account, or device information is sent.
  • Your choices. People you follow, races, candidates, and issues you star, and your notification settings are saved to your account.
  • Push notification token. If you turn on alerts, we store a Firebase Cloud Messaging token for your phone. Alerts are matched to your county, town, and districts, never your street address.
  • Reports and feedback. If you send a report or feedback, we save your message, the type you picked, the page it was about (such as the person or office), the app version, and your account ID. We never attach your address. Only the TotalGovt team can read reports.
  • Usage stats. We use Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage stats, such as which screens are opened. This includes an app instance identifier that Firebase generates. We never send your name, email, street address, or what you search for.
  • Ballot builder. Your ballot picks are saved only on your phone. They are never sent to us.

The app asks for the Android permissions it needs: internet access, network state, and notifications (asked in context, only if you want alerts). Notification delivery also uses Google Firebase Cloud Messaging.

We do not collect precise GPS location (the app has no location permission), contacts, photos, files, audio, financial or health information, messages, web history, or crash logs.

What we do not do

  • TotalGovt has no ads and no ad trackers, and it does not use the Android advertising ID.
  • We never sell or rent your data.
  • We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or files.
  • We do not endorse, rank, or score candidates or officials.

How we use data

  • To run your account and log you in (email).
  • To show you your districts, officials, candidates, meetings, and voting info (districts, address lookup).
  • To personalize what you see and send the alerts you choose (follows, stars, notification settings, push token).
  • To understand which parts of the app are used so we can improve it (anonymous analytics).
  • To fix wrong or missing information and answer your reports (feedback).

Who gets data

We do not sell your data. We use these providers to run the app:

  • Supabase: account login and our database.
  • Google Firebase: Analytics (anonymous usage stats) and Cloud Messaging (push alerts). Firebase acts as our service provider.
  • U.S. Census Bureau: the geocoder that matches your address to your districts. It receives the address you type.
  • Photon / OpenStreetMap: address suggestions. It receives only the partial text you type, after 4 characters.
  • Cloudflare: a cache for public election night vote counts. Those requests carry only the state and election date, plus the network information any web request includes, such as your IP address. They do not include your account or address. Cloudflare also hosts this website.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

This website

This website does not use cookies or advertising. It uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without tracking you across sites. The only page that talks to our login provider (Supabase) is the account deletion page, and only when you use it: it emails you a one-time code and then deletes your account. The sign-in used for that is kept in your browser's memory only and disappears when you leave the page. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes standard web requests (such as your IP address) to deliver pages and keep the site secure. If you email us, we receive your email address and your message, and we use them to reply.

How long we keep data

We keep your account data until you delete your account. Ballot builder picks and your street line live only on your phone. Anonymous Firebase Analytics data is not linked to your account, so it is not removed when you delete your account.

Delete your data

In the app: About, Account, Delete account. This removes your account, saved districts, follows, stars, notification settings, push tokens, and reports you sent. You can also ask us to delete your account from our account deletion page.

Your choices

  • Alerts are optional. Turn them off in the app (Notifications) or in your phone settings.
  • You can change or remove your address, follows, and stars in the app.
  • You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, at info@inferno45.com.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections. No method of storage or transfer is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

Public records

Candidate and officeholder information comes from public sources such as state boards of elections, state legislatures, and Congress, and is linked on every profile. That information is public record and is not personal data about you.

Children

TotalGovt is for adults (age 18 and over). It is not designed for children and is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
